Description	:	GARY MARSHALL THURMAN (1954 - 2017) Gary (Scrap) Marshall Thurman, age 62, quietly passed away Wednesday evening, with his son Marshall by his side. Gary was born to Hobart (Toby) and Grace Thurman in Chico , California. Scrap had a deep passion for working on cars, and liked restoring them. He took years restoring his 69 Chevy Camaro, which he entered into car shows and won many trophies for it. Read More	GARY MARSHALL THURMAN (1954 - 2017) Gary (Scrap) Marshall Thurman, age 62, quietly passed away Wednesday evening, with his son Marshall by his side. Gary was born to Hobart (Toby) and Grace Thurman in Chico , California. Scrap had a deep passion for working on cars, and liked restoring them. He took years restoring his 69 Chevy Camaro, which he entered into car shows and won many trophies for it. He also had been restoring his 73 Chevy Silverado, he had it running but a few things needed minor adjustments before it was ready for the streets, and anticipated car shows. He was continuously in his shop working on them for days which turned into many years spent in his garage. He would take his Harley out for rides and enjoyed the pure thrill of the ride only a Harley rider knows. Scrap was a loving and caring dad and friend. He liked telling corny little jokes at times and you'd just have to laugh, because it wasn't that funny, but it made him laugh. God wanted him home sooner than any of us here wanted him to leave. Survivors include his son, Marshall A. Thurman, his brothers; Arthur and Larry (Theresa) Thurman. Nephew Casey Thurman, Niece's Tara Thurman-Folsom and Larianne Thurman, and his lady friend Marie Lavell. He is proceeded in death by his daughter Kayla Thurman; parents, Hobart and Grace Thurman. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Willows Cemetery. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on Mar. 14, 2017
