Howard was born June 10, 1946, in Rome, N.Y., to Howard and Irene (Matson) Webster. Howard was preceded in death by infant twins sons, Jason and Brent. Survivors are: wife, Carole; sons, Brandon (Gretchen) of Dodge City, Kan., and Justin (Darcie) of Omaha; sister, Janelda (Don) Younghans of North Platte; brother, David (Lori) Webster of North Platte; grandchildren, Ethan, Jadon, and Makenzie; nieces and nephews, Amy (Brad) Herrick and Skylar, Clint Younghans (Shawna Upson), Jared and Shelby Webster and a host of friends and relatives. The family moved to Nebraska when he was an infant. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1964. Gary graduated from The University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1970 with degrees in Business and Biology. Gary and Carole moved to Central City in 1970, where Gary worked at the Pinnacle (Farmers National) Bank from 1970 to 2004, becoming president in 1980. Over the 40 years Gary lived in Central City, he was active in state and local organizations such as Merrick Foundation, Central City Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Bankers Association, and Nebraska Real Property Appraiser Board. Most recently, he served as chairman of the Central City Housing Authority until January, and was a current member of the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital Board.
