Visitation: Thursday, Jun. 21, 2007 Service: Friday, Jun. 22, 2007 Cemetery: Fall Creek Full Gospel Church Cemetery Mr. Gary Wayne Childress, age 41, of C. B. Eller School Road, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord while at Carolina Beach, Monday, June 18, 2007. Mr. Childress was born October 2, 1965 in Iredell County to James Melton & Martha Ford Childress. Mr. Childress was a member of Fall Creek Full Gospel Church. Gary was employed with Southland Transportation where he drove with his wife Darlia as a team for more than 10 years. He enjoyed kart racing and fishing with his son Matthew. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include: his wife, Darlia Cappellotti Childress of the home; a son, Matthew Wayne Childress and his fiancée Brandi Leeann Waddell of the home; his mother, Martha Ford Childress of Jonesville; a brother, Larry Childress and wife Suzanne of Ronda; three sisters, Diane Connley and husband Tommy, Kathy Whitaker and husband Garry, Carol Holloway and husband Dennis all of Jonesville; special mother-in-law, Betty Cappellotti of Elkin; sister-in-law, Lisa Taylor and husband Joey of Elkin; several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Connley and Rev. Diane Connley. Burial will follow at Fall Creek Full Gospel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058-5216.
