Description	:	Gaylen Parker Hainey was born near Harrodsburg, Indiana, January 8, 1871 and passed from this life Friday, Sept. 20, 1929, at the Fort Scott Hospital at Fort Scott, Ks. where he was taken following an accident which resulted in his death. Mr. Hainey came with his parents and family to Kansas in the fall of 1877, and settled on a farm near Walnut. Read More	Gaylen Parker Hainey was born near Harrodsburg, Indiana, January 8, 1871 and passed from this life Friday, Sept. 20, 1929, at the Fort Scott Hospital at Fort Scott, Ks. where he was taken following an accident which resulted in his death. Mr. Hainey came with his parents and family to Kansas in the fall of 1877, and settled on a farm near Walnut. Later they moved to Allen county, Kansas, and at the opening of Oklahoma for settlement took a claim in Pawnee county. Mr. Hainey was married to Miss Myrtle Houston in the spring of 1901 and to this union four children were born. Two died in infancy. A son and a daughter survived. Mrs. Hainey died in 1927. Early in life the deceased was converted and joined the United Brethren Church. After he went to Oklahoma he became affiliated with the Methodist Church, his membership being with the church at Glencoe, Oklahoma. He was a sincere Christian. Mr. Hainey came to Walnut last February and his health having failed he went to the Fort Scott Hospital for treatment. Later he underwent a severe surgical operation from which he recovered and was fast regaining his strength when the accident happened which resulted in his death. During the long period of convalesence, after leaving the hospital, he read the Bible a great deal and in his talks with his sister, Mrs. J.H. Doub and her family, he left no doubt of his preparation for life eternal. He is survived by one son, Lawrence of Bethany, Oklahoma, and a daughter, Eunice of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, James Hainey of Chosen, Florida, four sisters, Mrs. J.H. Doub of Walnut, Mrs. Lizzie Palstring of Humbolt, Kansas, Mrs. Sarah L. Wheeler of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Laura F. Culmer of Bothell, Washington. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon Sept 22, 1929, in charge was Pastor, Rev. C.J. Knox. Interment was made in the Walnut Cemetery. Mr Hainey was a quiet, kindly man, liked and respected by all who knew him. He lived a true and faithful Christian life on earth and died with the consciousness of a better life to come.
