Description	:	He was the son of Kenneth and Norma (Swanson) Peters. "He grew up in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1972, He then worked for a feed yard and the maintenance department for the City of Elgin. In 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and began a 18-year career with the military. He achieved the rank of chief petty officer and was involved in Senior Enlisted Damage Control Program management and training and Navy Recruiter Canvasser. He received numerous service ribbons including, Sea Service Deployment, Meritorius Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal with the bronze star before his discharge in 1997. On Feb. 26, 1977, he married Rita Lordemann at St. John's Catholic Church in Petersburg. The couple lived on various navel bases, including those at Bremerton, Wash., San Diego, Guam and Loveland, Colo." He was survived by a son, 2 daughters, 1 brother, 3 sisters, his parents, and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
