January 1977 ******** Alton Democrat, December 20, 1935 Mrs. Beukelman of Corsica, SD arrived Sunday to attend the funeral of her sister, Mrs. H. Boeve, Sr. Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Boeve, Sr., who died at her home Sunday were held Wednesday at the First Reformed Church. The remains were laid to rest at Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Boeve, nee Geertje Reekers, was born in the Netherlands, January 22, 1862. On May 16, 1883, she was united in marriage to Henry Boeve. They came to this country in 1888, settling first in Harrison, SD, and in 1895 moved to Sioux County where they spent the remainder of their lives. Five children were born to them, one child dying in infancy. Mr. Boeve died June 23, 1934. She is survived by four children, Arie, Henry and Mrs. Jennie Scholten, all of Hull, and Mrs. Effie Boeve of Rock Rapids, by 16 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Beukelman of Corsica, SD, and two brothers, Art & Henry Reekers of Sheldon. Mrs. Boeve had been ailing for several months, but on the Thursday preceding her death had been able to visit with her daughter, Effie, at Rock Rapids, but on Friday evening went into a diabetic coma from which she never regained consciousness.
