Description	:	Rites Held Tuesday For Mrs. Gertrude Van Ravenswaay Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, from the Netherlands Reformed church, Sioux Center, for Mrs. Gertrude Van Ravenswaay, 87, who passed away at the Sioux Center Community hospital early Sunday morning, May 11, following a brief illness. A service for the family was held at 1:00.p.m. from the Little Chapel. Rev. W. C. Lamain officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Service. Mrs. Van Ravenswaay was born at Ede, Netherlands, January 25, 1871, the daughter of Hendrik Bos and Adriana Van Ravenswaay. On August 31, 1894, she was married to Richard Van Ravenswaay, at Ede, and to this union 13 children were born. In 1915, they came to Sioux Center where they farmed until Mr. Van Ravenswaay died on February 27, 1929. Three children also preceded her in death. Surviving are six sons, Joe of Sioux Center, Arie of Maurice, Richard Jr., of Chino, Calif., Anthony of Maurice, Henry of Bellflower, Calif., Gerrit of Sheldon; four daughters, Mrs. Steve Vanden Brink of Hull, Mrs. Jake Dibbet of Sioux Center, Mrs. Win. Vander Linden of Sheldon and Mrs. Dick Vander Linden of Rock Valley Also surviving are 52 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren. Sioux Center News 1958-05-15.
