Description	:	ATKINS, GENE CLINTON—Gene Clinton Atkins was born to John William Atkins and Minnie Anita Blair Atkins on Dec. 12, 1931, at Alliance, and passed away Jan. 9, 1998, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, at the age of 66 years, and 27 days. He was one of four children in the family. Gene lived in Alliance from the time of his birth until 1964. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1950. He was one of four children in the family. Gene lived in Alliance from the time of his birth until 1964. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1950. Gene was married to Patsy Ann Nye of Alliance, on June 29, 1953, and to them six daughters were born. In 1964, they moved to Gering for one year. From 1965 to 1978 they resided in Santa Ana, Calif. They moved back to Nebraska in 1978, and lived at Oxford for one year, and then back to Alliance until 1992. They then moved to Lincoln for three years, and in 1995 moved to Bruning for one year. They moved to Geneva in 1996. Gene was a meat cutter from 1949 to 1978, when he became disabled and had to quit work. He owned Gene’s Market while they lived in Oxford. Gene was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Geneva; he also belonged to the teamsters union. Gene enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed sports of all kinds. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph and Bill Atkins; and sister, Anita Filley. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; six daughters, Sharon Atkins, Norma and husband, Mark Glenn, Jeanie and husband, Mike Norton, Vickie and husband, Ricki Ross, Mary Atkins, and Patricia and husband, Jean Brutus; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside services were conducted from the Geneva Public Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, with Rev. Chris Hoyer officiating. The Nebraska Signal Jan. 14, 1998
