Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 9 at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Dr. Michael Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Davenport. Mr. Nordeen was born in 1924 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Henning M. and Esther P. Nordeen. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp, flying B-17's. He married Marylou Bock in 1945, and survives Gene as Marylou Nordeen of Bettendorf. On September 2, 1972, he married Mary Jane Brown in Davenport. She died May 11, 1994. He owned and operated Nordeen Kitchen Center, Davenport, from 1952-1995. He was a member of First Christian Church, Davenport, and enjoyed golfing and fishing. Survivors include his first wife, Marylou; daughter, Peggy (Dan) Estes of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; son, Jeff (Pam) Nordeen of Davenport; seven grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Sassen of Bettendorf; and sister-in-law, Juanita Nordeen. In addition to his second wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill, and a brother-in-law, Duane Sassen.
