Description	:	Mr Gene Ervin Morris, 81, of McCallsburg, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2002 at his home of a heart ailment. A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 1 at the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church with burial following at the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg. Born in McCallsburg on April 24, 1921 to Ervin and Beulah Christian Morris, he was a lifelong resident of the community. He farmed from 1968 to 1978 and worked in the Botany Department at Iowa State University in Ames. He retired in 1978. Born in McCallsburg on April 24, 1921 to Ervin and Beulah Christian Morris, he was a lifelong resident of the community. He farmed from 1968 to 1978 and worked in the Botany Department at Iowa State University in Ames. He retired in 1978. He married Margaret Smith on June 24, 1942 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together. He was a member of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church and also served as a Township Trustee. He served on the co-op board. He restored Allis Chalmers Tractors and other farm machinery as a hobby. Survivors include his wife Margaret Morris of McCallsburg, two sons Darwin (Geri) Morris of McCallsburg; and Alan (Marsha) Morris of rural Zearing; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister Mrs Bonnie Malone of Cedar Rapids. Mr Morris was preceded in death by his parents. October 3, 2002 State Center Enterprise.
