He was born in Tipton County on October 16, 1958 to Jackie Lee and Buina Bell (Netherton) Goodnight. On November 19, 1977 Gene married Melinda Tidler and they had been married 34 years. He was a veteran of the US Army and had worked in construction. In his spare time Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering with cars. Read More	Gene "Geno" Goodnight, age 54, passed away on Friday May 25, 2012 at his home in Tipton. He was born in Tipton County on October 16, 1958 to Jackie Lee and Buina Bell (Netherton) Goodnight. On November 19, 1977 Gene married Melinda Tidler and they had been married 34 years. He was a veteran of the US Army and had worked in construction. In his spare time Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering with cars. His grandchildren were his life, he often played the role of taxi driver, shuttling them about to various school events, games and practices. Gene was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and had attended Beulah Land Church in Sharpsville. Survivors include his wife, Melinda Goodnight of Tipton, his children; Jamie and husband Joch Wolverton of Tipton, Josh and wife Heather Goodnight of Tipton, Brianne and husband Chad Payne of Lawton, OK along with grandchildren; Brayden Brown, Bailey Brown, Tristen Goodnight, Angel Goodnight, Danielle Goodnight, Hannah Shupperd, Gabriel Goodnight, and Kyra Payne. Surviving siblings include; Mike Goodnight of Tipton, Ruby Goodnight of Franklin, KY, Gary Goodnight of Tipton, and Theresa Goodnight of Tipton. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Blake Brown, two sisters; Carolyn and Martha Goodnight and a brother, Rick Goodnight. Calling will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday May 30, 2012 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday May 31, 2012 at Porter's. Interment will be in Tipton's Fairview Cemetery.
