Description	:	MADISON - Geneva D. Hendsbee, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan. She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Moscow to Edward and Dorothy (Cates) Smith. Geneva grew up in Moscow and graduated from Bingham High School with the class of 1940. She married Alfred C. Hendsbee on Aug. 17, 1943. She worked at a defense factory in Ipswich, Mass., during World War II. She also worked at Medwed Shoe of Skowhegan, and later worked for Anson Stick, where she eventually retired. She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Moscow to Edward and Dorothy (Cates) Smith. Geneva grew up in Moscow and graduated from Bingham High School with the class of 1940. She married Alfred C. Hendsbee on Aug. 17, 1943. She worked at a defense factory in Ipswich, Mass., during World War II. She also worked at Medwed Shoe of Skowhegan, and later worked for Anson Stick, where she eventually retired. Geneva and her husband lived in Madison for many years, where she was a member of the Minerva Chapter No. 74 Order of Eastern Star, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7865 Ladies Auxiliary and the United Baptist Church in Madison. Geneva was predeceased by her husband of 55 years; a brother, Robert Smith; and a sister, Jeannette Campbell. She is survived by her sons, Bruce C. Hendsbee and wife Leslie of Madison, and Tommy E. Hendsbee and wife Cheryl of Madison; five grandchildren, Kelly (Hendsbee) Whalen and husband Michael of Madison, Kristy (Hendsbee) Osburn and husband Matthew of Jupiter, Fla., Brian Hendsbee of Portland, Jennifer Testerman and husband Steve of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paula Gould and husband Michael of Cornville; five great-grandchildren, Erin Whalen, Sean Whalen, Chloe Osburn, Crew Osburn and Natalie Testerman; a brother, Aubrey Smith; and a sister, Beverly Davis and husband Bunky of Port Charlotte, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will be later in the spring in Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. (Morning Sentinel 1/20/2012)
