Description	:	CENTRAL CITY — Geneva M. (Peterson) Stettner, 100, of Central City died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Jim Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Lindale Cemetery near Hordville. Mrs. Stettner was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Hordville to Alfred and Ella (Benson) Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Stettner, on Aug. 9, 2002. Mrs. Stettner was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Hordville to Alfred and Ella (Benson) Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Stettner, on Aug. 9, 2002. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters, Carole Hongsermeier of Grand Island and LuEtta Johnston of Plainview, and a son and daughter-in-law, William and Georgia Stettner of Grand Island. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Dixie Johnston of Plainview, Tim Johnston of Osmond, Troy and Shelly Johnston of Plainview, Sheri Thielbar of Roselle, Ill., Steven and Heather Stettner of Palmer and Tina and Randy Kolman of Lincoln; and eight great-grandchildren, Wade Friedrich, Ashlee and Zach Masat, Kaytlyn Johnston, Morgan Johnston, Zachary Thielbar, Joshua Thielbar, and Alexander and Ayden Kolman. She was raised in the Hordville area and graduated from Hordville High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to Franklin Stettner on March 17, 1934, in Hordville, where they farmed the Peterson farm for several years. They moved to Central City in 1942 and Geneva worked at Randy's Steaks and then was a cook at Lake Mary (Timberlake) Camp and the Central City Care Center. Geneva was a wonderful cook and her family always looked forward to her meals, especially her pecan, rhubarb, and eggnog pies and Christmas cookies. She enjoyed her family and crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant granddaughter; her sister, Violet Shields; and a son-in-law, Earle Hongsermeier.
