She was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Hardin County, the daughter of Archie and Cora (Daniels) Obenour. In 1944, she married Richard Hornish, who died in 1995. She was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Hardin County, the daughter of Archie and Cora (Daniels) Obenour. In 1944, she married Richard Hornish, who died in 1995. She was a teacher at the public schools, a volunteer at Defiance Regional Medical Center and a member of Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren and its Women's Fellowship. Surviving are a son, Harold (Jean), Defiance; three daughters, Mrs. Corky (Carol) Overmyer of Dorr, Mich., Evelyn Schlosser of Fremont, Ind., and Roxann Hornish, Defiance; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were six sisters, Grace Andrews, Esther Shrider, Eva Obenour, Beatrice Obenour, Doris Shepard and Mildred Yawberg; four brothers, David, Harry, Paul and Archie Obenour; a son-in-law, Louie Schlosser; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren with Rev. Patricia Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today in Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Preferred memorials are to Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or the church cemetery fund. Services for Genevieve A. Hornish were held Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren with Rev. Patricia Meeks officiating. Burial was in Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Music was by Madelyn Kolsky, Mike Hawkens and Lois Hornish. Pallbearers were Ryan Overmyer, Greg, Jeff and Jon Hornish and Brent and Kevin Schlosser. Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home handled arrangements.
