Their children Ronnie and Robert were born there. When her husband went into the service, he moved his family back to Abilene to be near their families.When the boys were in High School, she started working for the Abilene Board of Education and worked there as a Payroll Clerk until her retirement in August 1980.She was a member of the First Christian Church and taught Sunday School many years, both before and after they returned from Iowa. She was a member of, and in 1960, served as Worthy Matron for the Order of Eastern Star.Jimmie and Bob loved to camp and were charter members of the Abilene Happy Wonderers Camping group and they later the Lay-Zzz Swingers Camping group, both chapters of the National Campers and Hikers Association, now known as Family Campers and RV’ers and represented the group as District Directors of fifteen different chapters, located in the Central part of Kansas, for over twenty years. They also belonged to the National Organization and were members of the Sunflower Fan Club of Kansas and the National Fan Club. She was also a member of the Westside Birthday Club, and also loved doing crafts and sharing them with friends and neighbors.Jimmie and Bob opened their home to her brother’s daughters during their Mother’s illness and to her sister’s children during her terminal illness and death.On June 24, 1997, she married Harold W. Willits of Lawrence, at Nebraska Christian College by President Ray Stites, former Abilene Christian Church minister. Mr. Willits was formerly an Art Instructor in the Abilene School System.Jimmie passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Abilene. She is survived by her son Robert of Harper, Kansas, daughter-in-law Janet Hottman of Abilene, granddaughter Kim Decker of Enterprise, step-children Ramona Willits and her husband David Smith of Lawrence, Lori Brunt and her husband Ed of Lawrence, Mark Willits and wife Gail of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lance Willits of Lawrence, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Her husband, Bob preceded her in death on March 16, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her second husband Harold Willits on April 3, 2014, her son Ron Hottman on November 11, 2007, brother M.E. “Mac” McNall on December 1, 2007, parents, and her sister Evelyn Holmes.Jimmie’s wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be at a later date. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert E. Hottman Key Club Scholarship Fund or to the First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67401.
