Description	:	Genevieve 'Gen" (Vandersnick) Mitteis was born on December 25, 1928, in Holt County, NE., to Leo F. and Cecelia H. (Thiele) Vandersnick. Genevieve passed away, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Neligh, Ne. Genevieve was one of seven children. She received her grade school education at District #118 and later graduated from Ewing (NE.) Public School in 1954 at the age of 16. She started her teaching career at District... Read More	Genevieve 'Gen" (Vandersnick) Mitteis was born on December 25, 1928, in Holt County, NE., to Leo F. and Cecelia H. (Thiele) Vandersnick. Genevieve passed away, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Neligh, Ne. Genevieve was one of seven children. She received her grade school education at District #118 and later graduated from Ewing (NE.) Public School in 1954 at the age of 16. She took normal training in high school and started teaching that following September. To keep her normal training certificate valid she attended summer school at Wayne State College. She started her teaching career at District #118 and then 5th grade in Ewing, NE. for several years. Then she met the love of her life Lyle Mitteis and were married on May 28, 1952. Rev. Peter Burke performed the ceremony at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, NE. Their first home was North of Orchard, NE. and middle branch; later to a farm South of Ewing, NE. Then retired at Clearwater, NE. Genevieve was a very good cook and baker. She loved to play cards and grew very pretty flowers. Genevieve and Lyle completed their family with two loving children Jim and Mary. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, NE. then at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Clearwater, NE. She also belonged to the Nebraska Teachers Association for many years. She was very active member of Christian Mothers. Genevieve was the CCD Director at St. Peter's for many years. Genevieve and Lyle have 6 grandchildren whom she loved very, very much. She was a very loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Genevieve and Lyle raised two grandsons; Travis and Luke on the farm South of Ewing, NE., for many loving years. She was hospitalized for eight weeks in Neligh (NE.) Hospital, with bone cancer. Genevieve is survived by: loving husband, Lyle Mitteis of 60 years.; son, Jim Metteis of Clearwater, NE. and daughter Mary Chandler of Clone, S.D.; grandchildren and a great granddaughter; brother, Lewis Vandersnick and friend, Yvonne Dugan of Lincoln, Ne.; sister, Winnie Cunningham of O'Neill, Ne.; sister-in-law, Marie Vandersnick of Ewing, NE. and a host of relatives and friends. Genevieve is preceded in death by; parents; brothers; Evo, Leonard, and Donald Vandersnick; sister, Laura Kaczor; brother-in-laws, Joe Kaczor and Richard Cunningham; granddaughters Emily and Genny.
