Description	:	Genevieve C. (Gen) Fleckenstein, 89, a resident of the King’s Daughters Home, 2603 Avenue G, died at 4:30 AM Tuesday, July 7 1992 at the home. She had been in failing health, but death was unexpected. She was born July 25, 1902 at West Union, Iowa and had been a resident of Fort Madison since 1934. She was... Read More	Genevieve C. (Gen) Fleckenstein, 89, a resident of the King’s Daughters Home, 2603 Avenue G, died at 4:30 AM Tuesday, July 7 1992 at the home. She had been in failing health, but death was unexpected. She was born July 25, 1902 at West Union, Iowa and had been a resident of Fort Madison since 1934. She taught in rural schools in the West Union area for several years and resumed teaching in 1952 when she became the first lay teacher at the former Sacred Heart Grade School and one of the first lay teachers in the Catholic schools. She was a member of Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and the Royal Neighbors of America. On June 14, 1927, at West Union, she was married to Lawrence Joseph Fleckenstein, who died March 12, 1965. Surviving are a son, Richard of Fort Madison; a daughter, Marjorie Groves, Baton Rouge, La; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and a half brother. Her parents were Fred and Mayme Callahan Gruver. Services were held at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Robert Amborn officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Obituary was published in the Fort Madison Evening Democrat July 8, 1992.
