Read More	Obituary for Genevieve Marie Rexwinkle Willon Riggs Dated: February 23, 2005 Genevieve M (Rexwinkle) Wilson Riggs , 81, of Chetopa, Kansas, died at 3:26 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Chetopa Manor where she had resided since December 22, 2004. She was born July 25, 1923 southwest of Altamont, Kansas, the fifth of ten children born to Will and Bessie (More) Rexwinkle. She married James M Wilson in 1940. They later divorced. On August 7, 1954, she married Lawrence Melvin Riggs at Bentonville, Arkansas. He survives of the home. Genevieve worked at the Kansas Ordinance Plant from 1950 to 1953, and for Sunflower Ammunition Plant of DeSota, Kansas, from 1966 to 1968. In 1963, they moved from Chetopa to Kansas City, Kansas. She was involved in sales for Fashion Twenty-One in Kansas City, Kansas, for 14 years and also worked in the bakery at the Venture in Overland Park for a short time. She and Melvin retired in 1996, they moved back to Chetopa in February 1998. She enjoyed Artex Tube Painting. She baked pies for Redwood Restaurant in the past. She enjoyed sewing and made most of her daughter(s) dresses until their early teens. She attended the Chetopa Assembly of God until November 2002 and currently attending Chetopa Community Bible Church. Those surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Rodger D Wilson, Chetopa; three daughters, Shirley Ann (Wilson) Bell, rural Chetopa; Sharon Kay (Wilson) Thomas, Welch, Oklahoma; and Rita Jean (Wilson) Grossman, rural Independence, Kansas. One step-daughter, Diane Basich, Sacramento, California; two brothers, Richard Rexwinkle, rural Altamont; and Delbert Rexwinkle, Parsons; one sister, Louise Price, rural Parsons; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were one daughter, Rita's twin sister, Reva Lee, who died shortly after birth at Miami, Oklahoma; one, Tex Riggs; one sister, Hazel Farmer; and five brothers, Wayne, Lyle, Marvin, David, and Kenneth Rexwinkle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 24th, at the Chetopa Community Bible Church with Rev. Randy Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek Cemetery of Bartlett. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa. Memorials are suggested to the Chetopa Community Bible Church and be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 346, Chetopa, Kansas 67336.
