Description	:	Arlington News, 02/26/1903, pg. 2: Geo. A. Cummings second son of the late Goodrier and Sophia Cummings was born in Rutland, Wis., Sept. 11th, 1846. Settled with his parents near Volga city in 1847 where he resided for 51 years. In April 1872 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah M. Drake to whom were born, two daughters, Abbie and Ala the former of whom died in infancy. In 1899 he settled on a farm near Sioux Rapids (Buena Vista Co. Ia) where he past away Feb. 19, 1903. A widow, one daughter Ala, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Edward Hayes, of Highland, and an adopted son Hugh, three brothers, Thos., of Volga City, John, of Ford, N.D., live to mourn the loss of a kind husband, father and brother. The remains were brought to Volga City for interment. the funeral services were held Tuesday 2 p.m. from the home of E. White to the Presbyterian church and were conducted by Rev. W.H. McCuskey assisted by Rev. Bretnell the M.E. pastor. Mrs. Cummings and family extend their heartfelt thanks to all who so kindly assisted and extended their sympathy, especially to Mr. and Mrs. White who opened their house to them. May he rest in peace.
