Madsven passed away at St. Lukes Hospital in this city, noon, Friday, March 9th. His death came as suddenly and unexpected as that of Mrs. E. S. Keene the week before. Altho George had been in rather poor health the past month no one suspected how seriously ill he was till the news of his death spread about the campus on Friday afternoon. With the same grit and unconquerable spirit which he has shown during his two years of college football, he did not reveal how seriously ill he was till taken to the hospital where the physicians found that the virus had so completely poisoned his system that nothing could be done to save him. George Albert Madsven was born at Dazey, North Dakota, October 11, 1898. He received his early training in the public schools of Dazey, and on in the public schools at Dazey, and on the Agricultural College to attend the Agricultural and Mechanics Arts high school from which graduated with honors in the spring of 1920. The same year found him again registered at the college as a freshman in Agriculture, his chosen vocation. Besides being a good student and the best of good fellows, George was prominent in school activities. While in high school, he served as a first lieutenant in the cadet corp, was a member of the High School debating team in 1920, and played on the high school baseball and basketball teams. When the war broke out he entered the service and was stationed at Camp Funston where he distinguished himself as the best marksman in the camp. On his return to college he went out for football earning a letter during both years on the team. His work at the guard position last year was above reproach and his faithfulness to the game made him one of the most dependable men on the team. George was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and a charter member of the N. D. club. Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon from Moore's Undertaking parlors, after which the remains were taken to his home in Dazey for interment in the family lot. Tis indeed hard to realize that one of our truest and bravest has been taken from us, but the father, who rules over all, has decreed it for the best and we can only say "Thy Will Be Done" and with this in mind await the day when time will bring us together one more, to grasp again the hand of our dearly beloved brother, classmate, and fellow student in the bond of everlasting friendship.
