Funeral services were Saturday afternoon in the Lewellen Methodist church with Rev. Dale Falk officiating and the Holechek Funeral home of Bridgeport in charge. Burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery at Lewellen. He was born June 18, 1893, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the son of George and Elvina Post. His grandfather, Peter Post, served in the Civil war. In 1911 he moved to the Lewellen community. November 1, 1918, in Waco, Texas, he was united in marriage to Ruth May Mardis. During the first World war he served as a lieutenant in the infantry. From 1918 to 1962 he farmed in the Lewellen area. He was associated with irrigation and land assessment projects and was a county commissioner from 1942 until 1951. For 50 years he has been a member of the American Legion. In recent years he and his wife have been living in Bridgeport. He is survived by his wife; one son, Dr. George Post of Bridgeport; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Lois) Thiel of San Diego; and Mrs. Dallas (Sharolyn) Lake of Bridgeport; one brother, Roy Post, Fort Dodge, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
