Description	:	GEORGE ANDREWS George Andrews died Tuesday at the General Hospital, Winnipeg, in his 102nd year. He celebrated his 101st birthday on Jan. 16th, and a report of this was published in the Champion. At that time, on account of his great age, his health and faculties had begun to fail and he required constant attention from Mrs. Andrews, who was then alive and in her 91st year. At that time, on account of his great age, his health and faculties had begun to fail and he required constant attention from Mrs. Andrews, who was then alive and in her 91st year. She died on March 16th (sic) and since then Mr. Andrews failed rapidly, physically and mentally. About a week before his death he had a fall and one of his hips was broken and he was taken to the hospital. Mr. Andrews was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, Jan. 16th 1824. He left his home in the old country in 1862, coming to Canada on a sailing vessel, and travelled by railroad from Montreal to Lachine, which was the length of the railway at that time, on his way to Milton, where he resided for 48 years (sic), respected by all who knew him. He went to Winnipeg in 1900. His home for the past 25 years had been with his son, Wesley Andrews, at Blackdale. Mr. Andrews led an active life and enjoyed the best of health until the last few months. He did his share of the work on his son's farm. Mr.and Mrs. Andrews had a family of five children, of whom four are living. The daughters are: Mrs. John Leslie, Winnipeg; Mrs. J. Parker, Bristol, England; and Mrs. Fred Hamilton, Port Credit. Wesley is the only son. In addition to the son and daughters, there are 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren to perpetuate the name and work of an honored progenitor.
