Gazette and Courier January 18, 1919 obituary: George A. Purrington, 61 years old, died suddenly about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon, a few minutes after he went into the Devens Hotel to rest in a chair in the office. Mr. Purrington was a native of Colrain and a long time resident of this place and many years ago was a wholesale liquor salesman. Later he engaged in the hotel business and for a time conducted the hotel in Deerfield and Warwick Inn. Until four weeks ago he was employed as a janitor for John Wilson & Co. He lived at 45 Grinnell street and leaves his wife and several children. Three were triple sons. The body was taken to Woodlock's undertaking rooms. Medical Examiner G. H. Twitchell viewed the body and pronounced death due to natural cases. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at 67 Conway street. Rev. Dr. A. P. Pratt will officiate.
