FLICK, GEORGE BERTMAN BERT--George Bertman Flick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Lee Flick, was born in El Paso, Woodford county, Ill., August 9, 1876. He departed this life at the Sunset Home near Geneva, Tuesday, May 19, 1953, at the age of 76 years 9 months and 11 days. He came with his parents to Nebraska when he was six years of age. They located on a farm near Geneva and for the remainder of his life he lived in Fillmore county. From early manhood he worked as a partner with his father on the farm, taking special interest in farming activities and stock raising. He relocated in Geneva with his parents and was employed in what was known as the Younger's Nursery, and other activities. After the passing of his father, he remained in the home and cared for his mother until her passing. He was stricken in health two and a half years ago and was taken to Sunset Home where he was tenderly cared for until his passing. Early in his illness he expressed a desire to accept the Christian way of life and the ministry of the local Evangelical United Brethren pastor at that time was sought whereby he came to know Christ Jesus as his Saviour. His last assuring words were "Yes, I am ready to go." He leaves to feel his departure three brothers and three sisters. They are Mrs. C. A. Moore of Lincoln; Mrs. C. C. Kenyon of Manning, Ia., Mrs. W. J. Merrill of Geneva; Charles of Gering; Lloyd of Lincoln; and Vernon of Denver. Besides these, there are nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. His father, mother and one sister, Bessie Schupbach, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the Kritner-Ashby funeral home Thursday afternoon, May 21, conducted by Rev. Maude V. Mann. The ministry of music was by Mrs. O. E. Nelson and John Edward Nelson. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 28 May 1953 page 3.
