Read More	Husband of Mary Jane Young ---------- George C. Bellows The Beacon last week simply announced the death of Mr. Bellows, the news arriving at the hour of going to press. Tuesday evening he came in from the barn with palsied tongue and contorted face. He was soon insensible, and before many hours apoplexy had done its fatal work, and George Bellows had gone "over to the majority." Deceased was born in Vermont, coming to Illinois at an early age, and to Spirit Lake just after the close of the War. He had a little boot and shoe store in town for a number of years, but in hopes of receiving physical benefit he moved on a farm near town in 1875, we think. He had for three years lived near Loon Lake, about seven miles from here. Through industry, prudence and frugality he was enabled to leave his wife and five children pretty well provided for. People who knew him well had a warm attachment for George Bellows. Many of our older settlers felt personal bereavement at his death. Gentle in manner, companionable in intercourse, warm-hearted in the extreme and faithful no the better instincts of manhood, he grew in the esteem and became fortified in the affections of his associates almost imperceptibly. His quick wit, gifted tongue and inimitable drollery could not fall of appreciation in any company, but there was no caustic in his speech. Rev. Bennett Mitchell conducted funeral services at the late home of the deceased last Friday, and the mortal remains of our cherished friend now rest near the abode of the bereaved family.
