Thomas II, the youngest of seven boys, was born June 11, 1932 on the family farm in Wessington, South Dakota, the son of George and Ada (DeLong) Thomas. Thomas II, the youngest of seven boys, was born June 11, 1932 on the family farm in Wessington, South Dakota, the son of George and Ada (DeLong) Thomas. Growing up, George attended Beadle County Country School. First and foremost, George was a farmer. On November 1, 1953, George enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in the Arctic and served his country during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged on November 17, 1955. After the Army, George returned to the farm. On July 24, 1965, George was united in marriage to Ann Quinn in Huron, South Dakota. Together, they were blessed with five children: Lorie Ann, Patrick Joseph, George Clair III, Garth Andrew, and Elizabeth Ann. George enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, gardening, planting trees, woodworking, and mowing. He loved his family and traveling, especially to see the kids. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Ann of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Lorie Thomas of El Paso, Texas; Patrick (Anke) Thomas of Yelm, Washington and their children, Patrick and Penelope; George (Hilda) Thomas of El Paso, Texas and their children, Xavier and Loghan; Garth (Karina) Thomas of Juarez, Mexico and their children: Carla, Garth Jr., and Kathryn; Elizabeth Alejandro) Chavez of South Sioux City, Nebraska and their children: Jessica, Maria, Ashley and Alexandra; brother, William (Elsie) Thomas of Springfield, Oregon; sisters-in-law: Audrey, Mary and Ruth Thomas all of Huron, South Dakota; extended family and many friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ada; brothers: Richard, Francis, James, Merlyn and Marion.
