Lincoln Way, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Salem City Hospital following an illness of several months. He was born Oct. 21, 1893, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of DAVID and MINNIE HENDERSON PORTER, and came to Lisbon as a boy. He was a member of First Methodist Church, all of the Masonic orders and the Kiwanis Club. A veteran of World War I, he was a charter member of the American Legion Post 275 and served as commander several terms. Mr. Porter was employed in the county engineers office for 45 years. He joined the Volunteer Fire Department as a youth and served as assistant chief and chief in recent years. He was a member of the board of education for 30 years and served as clerk several years. Mr. Porter was an ardent sports fan and a life member of the Lisbon Booster Club. He leaves his wife, the former LUCILE WILLIARD whom he married Dec. 2, 1948. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Eells-Leggett Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. The Rev. William Brown of First Methodist Church and the Rev. C. O. Armstrong of Trinity United Presbyterian Church will officiate.
