George Davis Lottridge, a pioneer settler of Center township of Wapello county, and a civil war veteran, died Saturday at 3 p.m. at the family residence on South Madison avenue. George Davis Lottridge, a pioneer settler of Center township of Wapello county, and a civil war veteran, died Saturday at 3 p.m. at the family residence on South Madison avenue. Mr. Lottridge was born in Athens county, Ohio, April 23, 1838, and came to Wapello county to reside when 17 years of age. He learned the carpenter’s trade and has followed this occupation in connection with farming all his life. He has also been interested in poultry raising and bee culture, and has been identified with these pursuits. He enlisted in the 2nd regiment, Iowa volunteer infantry in 1861 and figured in the battles at Shiloh, Donnelson and other engagements until the evacuation of Corinth. Since the close of the war he has been an active member of Cloutman post No. 69, G.A.R. In 1866 he was married to Josephine Dunkle, and to them were born nine children. His wife and the following children survive him: Mrs. Anna Roberts of Woodlawn, Ore., Mrs. Philetta Stancer, Mrs. Sarah Baucus, George, Thomas, Charles, Lillian and Maurice of this city, and Mrs. Bertha May Israel of Des Moines. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m., at the family residence, conducted by Rev. M.E. Reusch of the Willard Street M.E. church. Interment will be made in Shaul cemetery.
