Description	:	Dr. George D. Troyer, 79, a native of Howard County, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday in the Goshen General Hospital where he was taken at 5:30 p.m. Friday following a heart attack. Born Feb. 26, 1890, in Howard County, he was the son of John and Caroline (Shrock) Troyer. He was married July 12, 1914, in Howard-Miami Mennonite Church to Kathryn Sommers, who survives. He attended Goshen College and was graduated from Marion College, Marion. He was graduated in 1922 from Chicago Medical School. Troyer, 79, a native of Howard County, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday in the Goshen General Hospital where he was taken at 5:30 p.m. Friday following a heart attack. Born Feb. 26, 1890, in Howard County, he was the son of John and Caroline (Shrock) Troyer. He was married July 12, 1914, in Howard-Miami Mennonite Church to Kathryn Sommers, who survives. He attended Goshen College and was graduated from Marion College, Marion. He was graduated in 1922 from Chicago Medical School. He taught grade school for two years in Howard County then taught high school in Bristol from 1914 to 1915. He taught high school in Wakarusa from 1915 to 1916. In the fall of 1923 he was sent to India as ajnedical missionary under the Men-onKe Board of Missions and Charities He spent 13 years in India and was medical director of the Dhamtari Christian Hospital. He returned to Fisher, Illinois ., where he practiced medicine for eight years. He was sent in 1944 to Puerto Rico as a medical missionary by the Mennonite Central Committee. He was resident agent in Puerto Rico for the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities of Elkhart. Surviving with the widow are four children, Nortell of Terre Haute, Dr. Dana of Goshen, Mrs. Lawrence (Annabelle) Greaser of Puerto Rico, Dr. G. Weldon of Goshen; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the last of a large family. An infant daughter. Louise, preceded him in death in 1928 in India.
