Description	:	George E. Coffey, the son of Eden R. and Alice Lewis Coffey, was born at Wakita, Oklahoma on January 14, 1908. His death occurred at his home near Phillips, Nebraska on March 31, 1978 at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 17 days. As a small boy he came with his parents to Hamilton County where they first resided near Giltner and later near Phillips. Read More	George E. Coffey, the son of Eden R. and Alice Lewis Coffey, was born at Wakita, Oklahoma on January 14, 1908. His death occurred at his home near Phillips, Nebraska on March 31, 1978 at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 17 days. As a small boy he came with his parents to Hamilton County where they first resided near Giltner and later near Phillips. He attended schools in the Giltner and Phillips vicinity and graduated from Phillips High School in 1925. He then farmed in the Phillips vicinity. On January 28, 1934 he was united in marriage to Twila Schnell in Clay County, Nebraska. They spent all their wedded life at farming. George was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, having transferred several years ago from the Giltner Methodist Church. He was active in the church and community affairs. His parents, one brother Ross, two sisters, Mrs. Zora Stevenson and Mrs. Edna Hopkins and one son, Keith Coffey had preceded him in death. His survivors include his wife, Twila; one son, The Rev. Marvin Coffey a missionary in Brazil in South America; one daughter Mrs. Doris Wiens of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Coffey of Lincoln and Robert Coffey of Story City, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Belle Maynard of Boone, Iowa, Mrs. Erma Stoll of Story City, Iowa, Mrs. Nina Black and Mrs. Joy Walker both of Batavia, Iowa and many other relatives and close friends who will cherish his memory.
