Description	:	Obituary of George Romine George Emerson Romine was born at Ashland, Nebr., on January 12, 1875, and died at his home near Valentine, Nebr., on January 24,1927, at the age of 52 years and 12 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Ickler at Creighton, Nebr., on December 8, 1904. To this union two daughters were born, Ruth and Barbara. Read More	Obituary of George Romine George Emerson Romine was born at Ashland, Nebr., on January 12, 1875, and died at his home near Valentine, Nebr., on January 24,1927, at the age of 52 years and 12 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Ickler at Creighton, Nebr., on December 8, 1904. To this union two daughters were born, Ruth and Barbara. He united with the Methodist church in young manhood. After marriage he farmed near Plainview, later moving to a farm of their own near Creighton. In 1920 the farm near Creighton was sold and the next years a journey to Florida, by auto, was taken, in search of better health and fortune. In 1922 the family returned to Nebraska, where Mr. Romine was employed at the state Fish Hatchery at Valentine. In 1924 he took his family to Todd county, South Dakotas, where he spent his last years. His death was attributed to pneumonia and chronic appendicitis. Always the victim of constitutional disorders, he has struggled constantly with ill health in establishing a home. He grew gradually less able to cope with these difficulties and only his immediate family can appreciate the true nobility and unselfishness of spirit which actuated him. He was an unselfish and affectionate husband and father. He leaves to mourn, his wife, two daughters, his mother, Mrs. L.V. Byington, Los Angeles, Cal., one sister, Mrs. J.F. Jajicek, West Point, Nebr., and two brothers, John of Vancouver, B.C. and Thomas of Seattle, Wash. The remains were brought here on Thursday morning from Mission, S.D. and the funeral services were held at the Methodist church in the afternoon. Rev. Littrell conducted the last rites. The remains were laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery. A large number of friends were present at the obsequies to pay their final respects.
