From a 'Centennial' book for Early, Iowa: George Rosenhauer, a successful early pioneer settler, was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, on March 31, 1854. From a 'Centennial' book for Early, Iowa: George Rosenhauer, a successful early pioneer settler, was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, on March 31, 1854. At age 21 he came to visit his sister, who was then living in Sac County, he became interested in this community and decided to settle here some day. On January 10, 1881, he was married to Anna M. Grass at Burlington, Wisconsin. In the fall of 1881, they came to Sac County and settled on a farm south of Early. Mr. Rosenhauer was a progressive farmer. His farm was composed of 237 acres, modernized with electricity and running water (both rare in those early days). Mr. and Mrs. Rosenhauer were the parents of seven children: one dying in infancy, Elmer, Kate (Mrs. Carl Fulcher), Martha (Mrs. Blaine Hamm), Clara (Mrs. Roy Green), Will, and Lola (Mrs. Earl Brady). In 1917 they retired from the farm and moved to their home in Early. Mrs. Rosenhauer passed away on April 9, 1921, after which Mr. Rosenhauer lived with his daughter Martha and her husband, Blaine Hamm, until his death on January 16, 1936. Family gatherings are fond memories of the two surviving members of this family, Clara Green of Sac City and Lola Brady of Early.
