Thompson, old time resident of Montana, died at the Teton Memorial hospital March 14, after a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1876 at Corbin, Kentucky and would have been 78 March 24. He first came west in 1901 and after working in various parts of North Dakota and Washington, came to Dupuyer in 1905 where he was employed by Joseph Hines on the Dry Forks. Thompson, old time resident of Montana, died at the Teton Memorial hospital March 14, after a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1876 at Corbin, Kentucky and would have been 78 March 24. He first came west in 1901 and after working in various parts of North Dakota and Washington, came to Dupuyer in 1905 where he was employed by Joseph Hines on the Dry Forks. He was married Aug. 5, 1908 to Anne Lane Golder, after which he engaged in freighting between Dupuyer and Conrad for three years. He later was employed by Gene Leach, William Cowgill, J.C. Taylor and Henry Jensen until 1915 when the family moved to the Peebles ranch west of Choteau where he was employed until 1916. The fall of 1916 he was employed by Charles Davis, Sr. and Johnny Sullivan until 1926. He was then hired as janitor of Choteau grade school until 1930 when he again left to work for Charles McDonald as janitor of the McDonald block, where he remained until the property was sold. He was a member of the Choteau IOOF Lodge No. 11 for over 30 years and a member of the Queen Rebekah Lodge for 28 years. He served as secretary of the IOOF for several years and was a Past Noble Grand of that order. Surviving besides his widow are the families of a daughter, Eva Kregness, of Great Falls, a son, Evan Thompson, of Conrad, a step-daughter, Hazel Jones, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and a step-son, William Golder, of Great Falls. Funeral services will be held March 18 at the Methodist church of Choteau. Services will be conducted by Choteau Lodge No. 11, IOOF, and Queen Rebekah Lodge, with Rev. A. Bernard Gravdal of Trinity Lutheran church officiating.
