Description	:	George Edgar Davis was born in Washington County, Ohio, Dec. 8th, 1866. He was the first child of Thomas H. and Emily Davis. He spent the first eighteen years of his life at and around Beverly, Ohio, where he was born. Her it was that he learned the nursery business with the Mitchell Nursery Company. Here they lived until 1896 when they... Read More	George Edgar Davis was born in Washington County, Ohio, Dec. 8th, 1866. He was the first child of Thomas H. and Emily Davis. He spent the first eighteen years of his life at and around Beverly, Ohio, where he was born. Her it was that he learned the nursery business with the Mitchell Nursery Company. When he was 18 he came to Prole, Iowa, where he spent ten years in agricultural pursuits. On March 4th, 1891 he was united in marriage to Mildred Allen at Prole, Iowa. Here they lived until 1896 when they moved to Waukee, Iowa and he became engaged in the nursery business. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls. The son, Roy preceded his father in death in 1907. Those living are: Ray of Jefferson; Earl of Detroit, Michigan; Bessie and Mayme of Los Angeles, Calif.; and George of Walla Walla, Wash. At the death of his wife in 1909 he moved to Buena Vista county where he farmed for a year before returning to Waukee and the nursery business. He was united in marriage at Waukee to Mary Brown on June 28th, 1911. To this union was born one son who passed away Aug. 8, 1934. George Edgar Davis departed this life Feb. 23, 1938 aged 71 years, 2 months and 15 days. He leaves to mourn his going three sons, two daughters and two step daughters: Blanche Hammond of Waukee and Mattie Goodrich of Linden, Iowa; three brothers and two sisters, Oscar of Webb, Iowa; and Etta Dorsey, Wesley, Addie Flatt and Albert, all of Des Moines and six grandchildren.
