George Turley of 909 East 8th Avenue died instantly of a heart attack at Tucker's market, Saturday afternoon, May 27. Turley was born October 22, 1878 at Danville, Iowa. He was married April 29, 1908 to Carrie Cordelia McGlothlen at Ottumwa, Iowa and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Ellensburg in 1958. George Turley of 909 East 8th Avenue died instantly of a heart attack at Tucker's market, Saturday afternoon, May 27. Turley was born October 22, 1878 at Danville, Iowa. He was married April 29, 1908 to Carrie Cordelia McGlothlen at Ottumwa, Iowa and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Ellensburg in 1958. Turley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ellensburg and a member of Ellensburg Lodge No. 39, F.&A.M. This was his sixty-first year of membership in this fraternal order. Turley has been a resident of this community and engaged in farming since 1919 with the exception of the years 1942 to 1954 when he resided in Monroe. His survivors include his widow, two sons, Wayne of Ellensburg and Charles of Jersey City, N.J., a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Sorenson of Ellensburg, a sister, Mrs. Florence Green of Loveland, Colorado, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son, Wilbur, preceded him in death in 137. Services will be held at the Evenson Mortuary, Wednesday, May 31 at 2 pm. with the Rev. Miller C. Lovett, a fraternal brother, officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery with Ellensburg Lodge No. 39 F.&A.M. conducting the graveside services.
