He was born October 21, 1872, at Hollandsburg, Kansas, the son of George W. and Eugenia Taylor Long, now of this city, and besides them is survived by a daughter, Hazel, of Reading, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. John White, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Carl Carsner, Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Paul Bartlett of Marion, and one brother, Fred H. Long of Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held Sunday, Rev. Irving E. Wade, pastor of the Christian church, assisted by R.H. Chivington, noble grand, and J.H. Woodside, chaplain, of the Cedar Rapids Odd Fellows conducted the funeral service. Virgil Wade sang. The pall bearers were members of Maine lodge. At the grave in Oak Shade, a military service was conducted by members of the Marion American Legion post.
