Stoner, Lyle Stoneman, Mary Lahmeyer and Albert Miesbach were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Unadilla Cemetery. Tonsing-Fusselman-Perry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brandt, president of First National Bank, Unadilla, and American Bank, Burr, was born Nov. 21, 1895, at Unadilla to George W. and Eliza (Comley) Brandt. He attended Unadilla school and business college in Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Army, with the 89th Division, 341st Field Artillery on the Western Front during World War I from 1917 to 1919. He held campaign medals for the Muse-Arragonne and St. Mehile offensives as well as for the Army of Occupation. He married Beulah F. Stilwell Feb. 26, 1920 at Unadilla. He farmed in the Unadilla area one year. His wife died Dec. 10, 1967. He entered the banking profession on a part time basis in 1925. In 1944, he and his wife entered the First National Bank, Unadilla, on a full time basis. He was a rural mail carrier until 1944. In 1990 he was honored by the Nebraska Bankers Association for 50 years in the banking profession. Brandt served on the Unadilla Board of Trustees and the Board of Education of School District 20. He became a Master Mason Nov. 14, 1919, served in all chairs and was Past Master of Union Lodge 287 A.F. and A.M., Palmyra, member of O.E.S. 57, Palmyra, for more than 50 years. He was a 63 year member and past commander of Nash-Jensen Post 195, American Legion, Palmyra. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, Unadilla. Survivors include a son, William B. Brandt of Unadilla; daughter-in-law Rose Marie; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Brandt, of Unadilla. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Ruth, and a brother, Harrison.
