Carr was born near Fredonia, Kansas, August 6, 1884, and departed this life at his home near Ransom, September 19, 1933, at the age of 49 years, one month and thirteen days. In infancy he moved, with his mother, to Ness County where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Margaret Brock of Ransom, Kansas, October 28, 1908. To this union was born one son. Carr was born near Fredonia, Kansas, August 6, 1884, and departed this life at his home near Ransom, September 19, 1933, at the age of 49 years, one month and thirteen days. In infancy he moved, with his mother, to Ness County where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Margaret Brock of Ransom, Kansas, October 28, 1908. To this union was born one son. George was united with the church of Christ in early youth and remained a constant and faithful member. Mr. and Mrs. Carr, with their son, moved to a farm 8 miles northeast of Ransom in the spring of 1919 and have since made this their home. He was a successful farmer and spent his entire spare moments working to beautify his home and surroundings, besides making many pieces of furniture for his home, which he loved so dearly. He was a loving father, faithful companion and a good neighbor. Those who have been closely associated with George, as he was commonly called, marveled at his patience during his illness. He seldom complained and always spoke a cheerful word. Mr. Carr leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, Margaret Carr, and son, Albert Boyd; three half brothers, Nay Combest, of Ransom, Kansas, Frank Combest, of Erskine, Canada, and Clifford Combest, of Emmett, Idaho; one half sister, Lulu B. West, of Los Angeles, California; one step-brother, Edd Combest, of Ransom, Kansas; he also leaves three aunts, Mrs. Sam Dubbs, of Ransom, Mrs. Tilly Buchanan, of El Dorado, Kansas, and Mrs. Geo. Rae, of Portland, Oregon; one uncle, Joe Maxwell of Ransom; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the home by Brother J.M. Briggs, who brought a message of comfort from the 23rd Psalm. A quartet composed of C.R. Scott, Mrs. F.T. McNinch, Mrs. Omer Sidebottom and C.J. Shellenberger, sang “Going Down the Valley”, “Asleep in Jesus”, and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Interment was made in Ransom Cemetery. Ransom Record, September 29, 1933
