Edens Died At Columbus Hospital Thursday, February 10; Funeral Sunday Ed. Edens, prominent Primrose business man, died at a hospital in Columbus last Thursday. He had been ill for a month and on Wednesday was taken to the hospital where he passed away the next day. George Edward Edens was born near Battle Creek, Nebraska, December 2, 1878, and died at the hospital in Columbus, February 10, 1938, aged 59 years, two months and eight days. He was baptized while an infant in the Lutheran church at Battle Creek, but later joined the Methodist church at Primrose, of which he was a member at the time of his passing. Mr. Edens was married on September 29, 1915, to Miss Myrtle Coder, of Loretto. To this union were born five children, Ardath, Arlene, Wanda, Bethel and Jason. Surviving him besides his widow and five children are three brothers, William Edens of Colome, South Dakota, Lou Edens of Cabool, Missouri, Roy Edens of Clarkson, and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Dinick of Omaha and Mrs. Anna Beitz of Petersburg. These with a host of friends in this and other communities are left to mourn his passing. When a young man Mr. Edens worked for the Edward & Bradford Lumber Company for many years. Then he went into business for himself in Primrose where he has maintained a general merchandise store for the past 22 years. Mr. Edens was a man of quiet, unassuming manner, honest in his dealings and was respected by everyone who knew him. His life was marked by unselfish service and he will be greatly missed in this community. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in Primrose Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev John Wright. A ladies quartette sang three hymns, “Does Jesus Care?” “Face to Face” and “Some Day We’ll Understand”. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery at Albion (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – February 17, 1938)
