Pierce, 70, 821 Pershing boulevard, deputy city collector, who spent most od his life in and around Clinton territory died suddenly of a heart attack today at 9:40 a.m. shortly after being taken to Jane Lamb hospital. The body has been taken to Snell funeral home, where the services are tentatively being planned for Monday. Complete arrangements will not be made until a daughter from Chicago arrives here. Pierce was employed first by Iten Biscuit company and then by National Biscuit company for a total of 40 years. He retired a few years ago, but has served as a deputy city assessor since 1938. Born on Oct. 6, 1974, in Central City, the son of Patrick and and Sarah Pierce, he was married to Miss Mary Pearson June 14, 1899, in Clinton. They lived 16 years in Dubuque and 7 years in Sterling, I'll., the balance of their married life is spent in Clinton. Pierce belonged to the DMolay consistory; Western Star, A.F.and consistory. Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs, Frances George, Clinton, Miss Marian Pierce, Chicago; a brother Alex Pierce, Clinton; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Harms, Allison, Mrs. George Meyers and Mrs. Maybe Boyce, twin sisters who live in Wyoming, Iowa.
