A Time of Remembrance, with the family present, will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon. A procession will form at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. to proceed to Leando Cemetery near Douds, IA for the Graveside Burial with Military Honors. George Edward Rebol Sr. was born February 4, 1936 in Ottumwa, IA to Frank and Lena "Sedlock" Rebol. George grew up and attended school in the Wapello County area where he met and fell in love with Margaret Faye Petary. The two were united in marriage on June 12, 1953 in Ottumwa, IA. Not long after their marriage, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in April of 1956. Upon returning from the service, George worked as a laborer at several different jobs including driving a bus for the school. He enjoyed going to casinos, finding a good fishing hole, and taking his dogs for a ride in the car. You often heard George before you saw him due to his love of whistling. He didn't know a stranger and always had time for his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by those left behind to share his story. George was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margaret Rebol (2008); two children, George Rebol Jr. and Connie Elder, and one brother, Frank Rebol. Left to honor his memory are his children, Steve Knierim of Eldon, IA, Linda (Greg) Heger of Batavia, IA, Joseph Rebol of Fargo, ND, Janice Christner of Eldon, IA and Daniel Rebol of Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jennings of Ottumwa, IA; a daughter-in-law, Becky Runnells Rebol of Chariton, IA, and his two best friends, Roxy and Susie, as well as many extended family and friends.
