He died at the age of 90 years in a Greeley nursing home where he had lived the past five years. The funeral service was held at the Church of the Nazarene in Wray Tuesday afternoon with Rev. J. W. Frazier in charge. Burial was made at Wray. George Edwin Piper, son of Nehemiah and Emma Jane Piper, was born June 20, 1877 at Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He passed away January 19, at the Birch Manor Nursing Home in Greeley at the age of 90 years, six months, and 29 days. In the early nineteen hundreds he came to Yuma county and on August 19, 1906 was united in marriage to Rosa Burrell at Wray. With the exception of eight years in Iowa, he lived the remainder of his life in Colorado. They moved to Yuma in 1923 and made this their home until five years ago a stroke incapacitated him. Since then he was cared for at the nursing home in Greeley. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Yuma and was consecrated to the Lord whose praises he loved to sing. Two brothers, Raymond and Earl, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Rosa, a resident of Birch Manor Nursing Home in Greeley; five sons, Charles of Wray, Elmer of Eckley, Earle of Denver, Lloyd of Orland, California, and George of Champaign, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
