Description	:	The son of Elmer Otto & Clara (Winslow) Lind, George was born on August 31, 1918 in Metz, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School in 1936. On March 18, 1944, George was united in marriage to Esther Alexander in Metz. A lifetime resident of the Colfax area, George owned and operated Lind Implement in Colfax from 1949 until 1992. George was a member of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, a 50-year member of the Sugar Grove Grange, where he served as Past Grange Master. He graduated from Newton High School in 1936. On March 18, 1944, George was united in marriage to Esther Alexander in Metz. A lifetime resident of the Colfax area, George owned and operated Lind Implement in Colfax from 1949 until 1992. George was a member of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, a 50-year member of the Sugar Grove Grange, where he served as Past Grange Master. He was also a member of the Iowa Farm Implement Retailer Association and the Colfax Chamber of Commerce. George enjoyed traveling and got to see most of the world on trips that he had received through his business. George will be greatly missed by his two sons, Dennis Lind and his wife Caroline and Marvin and his wife Kim both of Colfax, a daughter-in-law, Judy Lind of Colfax; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His sisters and brother, Ruth Wadsworth of Colfax, Lois Beals of Colfax, Eldon Lind and his wife Marilyn of Ankeny and Evelyn Nicodemus and her husband Keith of Colfax also survive him. Preceding George in death were his parents, wife in 1988 and a son Lee in 2003 George E. Lind, age 87 of Colfax, died Friday, August 19, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Colfax First United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Lind will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Colfax Senior Citizen Center of the United Methodist Church and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
