(Lehigh) Snyder, who passed away in 2004. George was born in York, on August 23, 1924, and was the son of the late Martin L. and Katie M. (Sharp) Snyder. He worked for P.H. Codorus... Read More	SPRING GROVE George E. Snyder, Sr., 90, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in York. He was the loving husband of June M. (Lehigh) Snyder, who passed away in 2004. George was born in York, on August 23, 1924, and was the son of the late Martin L. and Katie M. (Sharp) Snyder. He worked for P.H. Glatfelter Co. in Spring Grove for over 30 years, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a longtime member of St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church in York New Salem, N. Codorus Twp. Fire Co., Friendship Hose Co. in Spring Grove, the York New Salem Fire Co., and Windy Hill Senior Center. He is survived by his sons, George E. Snyder, Jr. of Spring Grove and Dean L. Snyder of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Anna Eberly, Mary Copenheaver, Grace Stough, and Esther Snyder; and his brothers, Charles Snyder, Luther Snyder, Clair Snyder, and Paul Snyder. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem, with the Rev. Lisa Hair officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service next to his wife at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. of Spring Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem, PA 17371; or Alzheimer's Association Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
