George Bertrand was born on July 16 1938 in Bakersfield,California to Fred and Bertha Bertrand.He attended schools at Twin Oaks,Poso Flat,Woody, and Bakersfield High School. He married Eunice (Taylor) Bertrand in 1956.They had five children,four boys and a girl.George was a cowboy at heart.He was raised and worked on his parents ranch until he left home.he then worked for Rudnicks,Tejon Ranch and various other ranches and feedlots throughout his life.his passion in life was horses and cattle.His goal was to someday own his own cattle ranch.But,his time on earth did not last long enough for him to achieve his goal.Now that George has gone home,we know he has that cattle ranch in Heaven. George began driving a truck in 1957.He drove for various California Trucking Companies.In 1944,he purchased his own truck,becoming an owner -operator.his license said,Class A Driver and that he was.But,always at heart ,he continued driving as an owner-operator,until his passing. One of the biggest joys in his life ,was spending time with his granmdchildren and they worshipped him.Although George loved the cowboy life,cattle,horses,and trucks,they did not compare to the love and devotion he showed his family. George pasased away at home on August 25 2002,with his loving family by his side.he fought a courageous battle with cancer for over two years,prior to his passing.He was preceded in death by his father,Fred Bertrand and his grandson,Billy Jack Bertrand.He is survived by his wife of 46 years,Eunice Bertrand;his mother,Bertha Bertrand;his sons and their wifes,Billy and Sheri Bertrand;Jimmy and Vicky Bertrand;Eddie and Darlene Bertrand;Robert and Monica Bertrand;his daughter and her husband,Lisa and Danny Moyer;his sisters and their husbands,Sharon and Bob Gibson;Bea and Roy Hall;Shirley Escobar;Carol and J.R. Hummel;Cindy Bertrand;his brother Jean and Gwen Bertrand; 19 grandchildren;14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.He will be deeply missed,but always remembered by all who knew and loved him.
