Read More	FERRYMAN Of Vienna X-Roads, Was The Driver Of The Horse Found Near Redmond's Mill---He Had Drowned and Floated Far Down Stream This morning about 9 o'clock, a party of something like 100 searchers, in charge of Sheriff Shocknessy, discovered the body of George Ferryman, lying high and dry on a sand bar about one and one-half miles from where his horse and buggy was found yesterday morning, and where he undoubtedly met his death by drowning. The bar is situated about midway between the Taylor mill and the Redmond mill. The body had evidently been washed by the current against the side of the bar, where the receding waters left it. Coroner Schafer was immediately notified by telephone, and sent the police patrol out to bring in the body and proceeded himself to the scene. The suspicions of foul play and robbery that had been entertained were dispelled by the absence of any wounds on the body, coupled with the presence of #18.67 in money and a tax receipt which were found in the pockets of the clothes. Flesh wounds on the forehead had been made by passing through barbed wire, or by his struggles when he found himself in the water. Evidences were found to indicate that he was very much intoxicated at the time he met his death. Mr. Ferryman was an old soldier and a pensioner, but was not a member of any post. He leaves a wife and seven children. One son met a similar death several years ago by falling off a bridge at Sommerford. Coroner Schaefer will probably hold the inquest early in next week. D. M. Robbins, of Vienna X-Roads, saw Ferryman Tuesday night driving up Three-mile hill, east of the city. His horse was going at a moderate pace, and was by no means beyond his control. He believes Ferryman got the lines cross and started the horse through the gates to Frank Hazzard's place, the farm road, therefrom, going straight to the creek.
