He married Mary Jane Conley June 29, 1946, in Lovilia. She preceded him in death April 6, 2007. He served with the U.S.Army during World War II. He married Mary Jane Conley June 29, 1946, in Lovilia. She preceded him in death April 6, 2007. He served with the U.S.Army during World War II. A resident of Ottumwa since 1946, he had worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 29 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #888, Disabled American Veterans, O.B.Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are five daughters, Elaine Locke of Marshalltown, Linda(Dan)Davis of Highland Center, Diane(Dr. John)Partmann of North Bend, Ore., Joyce Snoddy of Ottumwa, Debra(Mike)Eisenbacher of Davenport; a son, David Locke of Ottumwa; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazelle Chapman of Albia. He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and Donald Locke; two brothers, Walter and Harold Locke; four sisters, Thelma Bates, Edythe Monk, Ama Fox and Elsie Sereg. Funeral Mass will be 1 pm Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B.Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Visitation will begin at 11 am Thursday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be at 6 pm Thursday at the funeral home followed by family visitation until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.
