George French Services for George French, 90, were held March 28 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with burial in the Wyoming Cemetery at Wyoming. Rev. W. Willis Longer officiated at the services. Mr. French died March 25 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello following an extended illness. Willis Longer officiated at the services. Mr. French died March 25 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello following an extended illness. He was born in Clay Township, near Onslow May 22, 1890, the son of Isaac and Jane Orr French. He received his early education in the rural schools of Jones County and graduated from the Onslow High School in 1907. George French and Verna Brulo were united in marriage March 3, 1909, at her home in Onslow. The couple farmed in the Onslow area. In 1911, he was ordained an elder in the Presbyterian Church and was the oldest living elder of the Monticello congregation. He was a member of the Onslow Masonic Lodge Fraternity, Lodge 619 AF&AM. In 1950, the couple moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he worked for Hughes Aircraft and a local clothing firm. They returned to Monticello to make their home in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Verna; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Mae) Wilson of Hopkinton; a son, Paul French of St. Helena, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two step-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. W. Neil (Frances) Adams of Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, five sisters and a brother. Casketbearers were, Daryl Jansen, Walter Hartman, Fred Zimmerman, Calvin Reiss, Russell Streeper and Paul Heeren
