He was born June 6, 1940 in Stokes County to the late Tom L. and Carrie Dollarhite Flippin. As his health permitted, he attended Leake Memorial Baptist Church, and was a member of The Dan River Coon Club. Pete was very devoted to his family and loved to have them around. Read More	GERMANTON, NC ~ George “Pete” Franklin Flippin, 75, died Friday evening, January 15, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 6, 1940 in Stokes County to the late Tom L. and Carrie Dollarhite Flippin. As his health permitted, he attended Leake Memorial Baptist Church, and was a member of The Dan River Coon Club. Pete was very devoted to his family and loved to have them around. He was an avid fan of his granddaughter’s ball games. Pete was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. where his responsibilities included setting up factories in Germany, Italy, and Turkey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Carl and Wade Flippin. A 7:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Burroughs Chapel with Rev. Craig Richards officiating. Burial will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Leak Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alice Faye McHone Flippin of Germanton; 4 children: Todd Flippin (Michelle) of Lexington, Tammy Dudney (Fletcher) of Germanton, Kim Mounce (Rodney) of King, Brent Flippin (Lesli) of DeLand, FL; 2 sisters: Estelle Shaw and Inez Chilton; 2 brothers: Horace Flippin (Vickie) and Dwayne Flippin; 1 sister-in-law: Carolyn Flippin; 9 grandchildren: Brandon Hill, Lyndsay Craine (Matthew), Alyssa Siler, Dylan and Kelli Mounce, Beau and Lauren Dudney, Chad Evans, and Hunter Flippin; 3 great-grandchildren: Brayden Hill, Eli and James Craine. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home. Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove is serving the Flippin family.
