Stevens of 438 North Weller street, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 5:52 p.m. Saturday. The son of Ezra and Mary Augusta Gibbs Stevens, he was born in Marion county, near Pleasantville. Stevens of 438 North Weller street, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 5:52 p.m. Saturday. The son of Ezra and Mary Augusta Gibbs Stevens, he was born in Marion county, near Pleasantville. He had lived in Ottumwa for 26 years. For 49 years he was employed as a maintenance man for the Burlington railroad and retired in 1946. He was a member of the Burlington Veterans association No. 11; B.M.W.E. No. 1832; F.O.E. No. 114; and S.B.A. lodge No. 123. For the past several years he was an employe of the Hotel Ottumwa. Surviving are his wife Lillian, one sister, Alice Stevens of Ottumwa; one niece, Mrs. Sterling Price of Long Beach, Calif.; four nephews, Raymond Wright of Ottumwa, Dwight Stevens and Leland Stevens of Fox Park, Wyo., and Raymond Stevens of Fallon, Neb.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edna Emerson of Ottumwa and Mrs. Bonnie Lancaster of Florence, Ore.; three great nephews, two great nieces and one great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and one stepson. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Donald Madison of the Seventh Day Adventist church and Elder Edward Stark of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Columbia cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Woollums, LeRoy Ruby, Walter Feehan, Cam Brinegar, Claude Howell and William Ray.
